Want to know the 5 most popular jazz songs?

Jazz isn’t all just ‘Putting On The Ritz’ you know. Okay, so it may well be the song we perform the most, but hey – you can’t beat a classic!

As specialists in vintage style and 1920s jazz we travel all over the UK to perform at weddings, corporate events and parties. Through performing as full time musicians over many years we have a pretty solid set list, but we’re always up for taking on requests or learning new material. As long as it looks good sung by a man in a trilby clicking his fingers – we’re in!

So, without further a-do, here’s a selection of some of our more popular numbers across all of our events:

The Charleston
The quintessential sound of the 1920s. An absolute classic guaranteed to get people dancing. Always a favourite – not just with our audience but also with our fabulous 1920s Flapper Girls. They’re available to hire for any function and are a great way to keep your guests on the dancefloor.

Fly Me To The Moon
Okay, so it’s a 50s number, but it has its roots firmly in the 20s and we do a spiffing version of it too. It’s a sing-a-long favourite across all of the events we perform. Those who enjoy a pub quiz should be interested to know that the original title of the song was ‘In Other Words’. The song was also played on the moon itself by the astronaut Buzz Aldrin during the Apollo 11 landing in July 1969.

Ain’t She Sweet
A song that personifies the Roaring Twenties, never more so than when we’re blasting it out:

Bridal March (Lohengrin)
Unsurprisingly, a very popular number for wedding entrances! That said, it’s not the only one we perform as brides make their way down the aisle – numbers like ‘When My Sugar Walks Down The Street’ and ‘Bourbon Street Parade’ have worked really well in the past.

La Vie En Rose
Sticking with weddings, a couples first dance number is incredibly important. Believe me, we’ve seen enough of them to know. It’s a moment that requires a song which is tender, yet up-lifting. Soft but loud enough to be heard. A crowd pleaser but special enough to the happy couple. For us, La Vie En Rose is that number. A timeless classic. Honourable mentions go to both ‘Bare Necessities’ and ‘King of the Swingers’ – both of which make for a great Jungle Book first dance.

So there you have it – five great songs out of literally hundreds in the Jazz Spivs’ repertoire. We’re available for hire to perform any of the above numbers, as well as special requests (new or old) that you may. We’re also happy to travel, and the band covers parties, weddings and other events across England.
